چکیده

A 2.4 GHz radio frequency receiver front end with an on-chip transformer compliant with IEEE 802.11b/g standards is presented. Based on zero-IF receiver architecture, the front end comprises a variable gain common-source low noise amplifier with an on-chip transformer as its load and a high linear quadrature folded Gilbert mixer. As the load of the LNA, the on-chip transformer is optimized for lowest resistive loss and highest power gain. The whole front end draws 21 mA from 1.2 V supply, and the measured results show a double side band noise figure of 3.75 dB, –31 dBm IIP3 with 44 dB conversion gain at maximum gain setting. Implemented in 0.13 m CMOS technology, it occupies a 0.612 mm die size.

A 1.5-V, 2.4-GHz CMOS LNA and Mixer Receiver Front-End

There are two main approaches to realize a receiver front-end. However, they have drawbacks when fully-integrated on a single chip. One direction to realize this front-end is to use a transformer that can convert the single RF output of the LNA to the differential input of mixer [4]. Another way to do this is to use a narrow-band two stage tuned LNA [5] that can provide a differential output. H...

A low power 3–5 GHz CMOS UWB receiver front-end∗

A novel low power RF receiver front-end for 3–5 GHz UWB is presented. Designed in the 0.13 μm CMOS process, the direct conversion receiver features a wideband balun-coupled noise cancelling transconductance input stage, followed by quadrature passive mixers and transimpedance loading amplifiers. Measurement results show that the receiver achieves an input return loss below −8.5 dB across the 3....

A 70-GHz Transformer-Peaking Broadband Amplifier in 0.13-μm CMOS Technology

A 70-GHz broadband amplifier is realized in a 0.13-μm CMOS technology. By using five cascaded commonsource stages with the proposed asymmetric transformer peaking technique, the measured bandwidth and gain can reach 70.6 GHz and 10.3 dB respectively under a power consumption (PDC) of 79.5 mW. With miniaturized transformer design, the core area of the circuit is only ~ 0.05 mm. Compared with the...
